Job Description

The Resident Engineer serves as the on-site technical specialist, ensuring that construction projects are executed in compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Acting as a critical link between the client and the contractors, the Resident Engineer is responsible for overseeing daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, and resolving technical issues promptly.

Job Qualifications

Required Education:

-Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.


Required Experience & Certificates:

-PMP Certification is a plus.
-A minimum of 10 years of proven experience in construction management or a supervisory role in large-scale projects.


Required Skills:

-Proficiency with project management tools and familiarity with technical documentation.
-In-depth knowledge of local regulations and construction codes.
-Strong interpersonal, leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
-Excellent analytical and organizational skills for managing project timelines.


Tasks and Duties:

-Directly oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
-Act as the primary point of contact between project team, contractors, and various stakeholders, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
-Track and report on project progress, providing regular updates to the Project Manager and stakeholders.
-Proactively address and resolve construction-related issues, conflicts, and disputes, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines.
-Identify potential risks associated with the construction project and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
-Maintain a comprehensive risk log and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
-Keep a detailed log of all project-related issues, including their nature, resolution status, and any impacts on the project timeline or budget.
-Review and approve design shop drawings, and provide updates on modifications and necessary adjustments.
-Work closely with architects, engineers, and other project team members in office to discuss and address design modifications, changes, and unforeseen challenges.
-Review and approve the schedule of works and request for inspection submitted by contractors.
-Ensure work schedule alignment with project timelines and report any discrepancies or concerns to the Project Manager.
-Address issues and quality deviations with contractors, send notices and request justifications where necessary.
-Conduct regular inspections and quality control assessments to guarantee that site works’ quality aligns with established standards.
-Document findings from quality control inspections, highlighting any discrepancies and proposing corrective actions.
-Generate regular daily / weekly / monthly / quarterly progress reports outlining progress on site, and any deviations from the project schedule.
-Submit letters, forms, and templates designated for progress, issues, incidents, notices, and any other similar reporting needs.
