Foreword by Nora Younis, Editorial Director
I first met Fadi Daou in June during a Tech Circle event hosted at Beirut Digital District, where he was one of the speakers. From the moment he shared his insights, I felt our missions and passions for Lebanon’s job growth were perfectly aligned. Fadi’s vision for building Lebanon as a global high-tech hub resonated deeply with my work at Jobs for Lebanon. Soon after, I followed up with a visit to his state-of-the-art tech facility, and I was beyond impressed by what I saw: a bustling headquarters where innovative products are engineered, tested, and shipped worldwide. Fadi’s facility exemplifies what’s possible when local talent meets global ambition.
At Jobs for Lebanon, we view Lebanon’s tech and digital talent as a powerful driving force for growth, making the country an ideal outsourcing hub for the world. A recent study by Forward MENA and the Boston Consulting Group found that Lebanon ranks 18th globally for digital skills—a testament to the skill, resilience, and adaptability of the Lebanese workforce. This remarkable ranking, despite the challenges Lebanon faces, highlights the vast potential waiting to be harnessed here.
I hope Fadi’s story inspires you as it has inspired me and fills you with pride to be Lebanese. Together, we can build a future where Lebanon stands as a beacon of high-tech innovation and opportunity.
For Fadi Daou, technology has always been more than just a career—it’s been a calling. From a young age, he was drawn to the world of electronics, building radios and gadgets from scratch and immersing himself in the rapidly evolving field of technology. “I’ve always been a techie,” he recalls. “I used to dabble in electronics. This is exactly what I wanted to do, and I pursued my passion.” This curiosity evolved into a nearly four-decade-long journey, during which Fadi founded five successful companies and established himself as a high-tech entrepreneur with a mission to transform the industry.
MultiLane, Fadi’s latest venture, is not only a testament to his technical expertise in optical and electrical engineering but also a reflection of his dedication to Lebanon. The company is headquartered in Fadi’s hometown of Houmal, a town just outside Beirut, and employs over 350 people locally. MultiLane specializes in high-speed test and measurement solutions for the HSIO (High-Speed Input/Output) and semiconductor markets, producing cutting-edge products that support some of the world’s most renowned technology firms. Every month, MultiLane ships upwards of 30,000 products made in Lebanon to tech giants like Cisco, Intel, Google, and Dell, playing a vital role in qualifying and setting up the infrastructure for data centers and artificial intelligence clusters around the world. “All the products are made in Lebanon,” Fadi proudly states, highlighting the company’s impact on global markets. “They all show up globally, and all of them say ‘Made in Lebanon.’”
What makes MultiLane unique, however, is not just its technical accomplishments but the mission that drives it. Fadi’s experience founding multiple companies taught him that the pursuit of money alone is not the ultimate goal. “After four companies, okay, you make money, but that is not really the ultimate game,” he reflects. Instead, MultiLane was built with a different objective—a CSR mission to create jobs in Lebanon, foster young talent, and position the country as a hub for innovation. “The mission and the mission statement of the company, to create jobs and ensure a prosperous future for Lebanon, were the driving force,” he says. MultiLane’s success over the last 14 years, with consistent year-on-year growth, stands as a testament to this purpose-driven approach.
For Fadi, supporting Lebanon’s youth and creating viable career paths in high-tech are critical to MultiLane’s mission. Through initiatives such as the summer camp and the HTP Academy, which provides applied training to bridge the gap between academia and industry, MultiLane is equipping young Lebanese with the skills they need to succeed at home. The company also recently launched a co-op program to support students whose families cannot afford college tuition, allowing them to work while studying. “The discipline, in my view, is the most important that’s going to enable us as a country to compete in a global landscape,” Fadi emphasizes, highlighting the importance of nurturing a skilled, disciplined workforce to secure Lebanon’s future in the high-tech industry.
Despite Lebanon’s challenges, Fadi remains committed to the country’s potential. After spending 25 years in the United States, he returned to Lebanon driven by a profound desire to make a difference. “Every Lebanese that you encounter worldwide still has this huge soft heart for Lebanon,” he says. He sees Lebanon’s diaspora as a powerful resource, urging unity and prioritization of Lebanon’s development. “Together, we can build a better nation and offer a better future for our kids,” Fadi advocates passionately, emphasizing his dedication to a shared vision for a stronger Lebanon.
Looking to the future, Fadi envisions MultiLane playing an increasingly prominent role in both the local and global tech ecosystems. The company is set to launch core products in AI infrastructure and networking, which are expected to expand its market reach fiftyfold and create thousands more jobs in Lebanon. “We expect to have upwards of 5,000 employees by the end of 2027,” Fadi reveals, hopeful that this growth will make a measurable impact on Lebanon’s economy and provide meaningful opportunities for the next generation.
For Fadi Daou, MultiLane represents more than just a business—it is a vehicle for change, innovation, and hope for Lebanon’s future. By fostering talent, creating jobs, and demonstrating that world-class products can be “made in Lebanon,” he is redefining what’s possible for his homeland. “Our focus is to create value to our customers and jobs and opportunities in Lebanon for young people to thrive,” he says, adding that while financial success is essential, it is the CSR mission that truly fuels MultiLane’s journey.
In echoing Fadi’s words, we urge the Lebanese diaspora to continue supporting job growth and creating opportunities for people in Lebanon. By posting a job or making a hire, you’re not just offering employment—you’re sending a lifeline to fellow Lebanese who are eager to contribute their skills and expertise to the world.
